Basketball Academy
Who are the Lions?
The North School Lions Basketball Academy was established in 2010 and has since become one of the country’s leading programmes for developing young basketball players on the court and in the classroom. Our student-athletes have earned a reputation for dedication and excellence and this has resulted in a number of them receiving scholarship offers to university programmes in America and Europe.
What can the Lions offer?
Whilst offering 15+ hours of elite-level coaching per week and competitive games in some of the most prestigious leagues in England, the absolute priory of the Academy is academic success and all of our student-athletes fulfil their basketball commitments alongside their schooling.
For our Key Stage 5 student-athletes, we offer a wide range of qualifications across a multitude of subjects. Each individual is encouraged to take subjects which they are passionate about and will be beneficial for them as they move towards university. The Academy has a number of links with top level university programmes in the USA and Canada as we look to provide our student-athletes with the best possible opportunities to further their development in both education and basketball after they graduate. Players also have an opportunity to work towards basketball specific qualifications including Basketball England coaching/officiating awards. The Academy provides basketball specific career options with player and coaching pathways in place to give those with the passion and ability, every chance to play/coach at an elite level.
